Annapolis Now

So the Fed just cut interest rates again which means…you can now spend more and pay less interest over the coming months, woohoo! Here are some things to distract you from upcoming mortgage payments, taxes and anything else you can throw a stick at:

The Colonial Players of Annapolis kick-off 2008 with the production of “Enchanted April”, a comedy that supposedly will bring sunshine to our dreary winter. The show debuts at 8PM Friday evening and tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for senior citizens and full-time students. Call 410-268-7373 for more info.

Movies

• Meet the Spartans: If you have had a really hard week at school, this might be what starts off the weekend right, maybe…
• Rambo: If you have had a hard week at work, and dreamt about relieving your stress by playing mercenary, then this is the movie for you. Seriously, who isn’t going to watch this? Rambo should be part of everyone’s childhood. We all remember the last battle scene in Rambo III where Rambo fights a Russian attack helicopter with a tank…only John Rambo can make that happen. The most important question is who would win: John Rambo Vs. Chuck Norris? If you doubt Rambo’s machismo as he approaches 60 yrs old, check out this video:
  
• Untraceable: Oh the wonders of the internet, we use it to search for naughty things, and wait, kill people too!? This movie does have a bizarre twist a la Saw (1-4), but looks a little more serious. Get your gumshoe on! Why is it in the movies the bad guy always wants to catch the person catching him/her?

Comedy

So I happened to find this on a hunch that there might be an improv scene in Annapolis. Apparently Becky’s Restaurant (seafood joint at Pier 7 Marina on the South River bridge in Edgewater) has a “comedy dock”. The schedule on their website seems a bit old(understatament-they mention beach volleyball…in this weather!?), but could still be pertinent. They supposedly have a DJ Friday and Saturday nights at 9PM. Anyone been?
