Maryland To Impose IT Tax-Nerds Declare War!

Today is officially “Save Maryland IT Day“. Nerds around the bay area are in uproar over a proposed 6% sales tax on IT related service/product providors. The Maryland Tech Council as well as other local tech companies are joining the fight. With IT services/products usually having high-margins, I really can’t predict what will happen on the legislation floor. Anyone participate in today’s events? What do you think?

Maryland Midwifery Ligislation

I had no idea these kinds of “industry” groups existed, but, long live the internet! There was a Nurse-Midwives Rally Monday night in Annapolis to support the Birth Options Preservation Act is House Bill 1407. This would end the requirement that nurse midwives practicing in Maryland have a written agreement with a doctor. Hip hip hooray! The question is, can these midwives/nurses give pregnant women an orgasmic birth?

Honeydripper: Annapolis Debut

Seems like Annapolis is slowly getting on the entertainment map. We are on an exclusive release for a new movie this coming Friday, February 29th!

“Iconoclastic filmmaker John Sayles, in his 16th feature film, continues his extraordinary examination of the complexities and shifting identities of American sub-cultures in the new film “Honeydripper.” With his usual understated intelligence, Sayles uses the rhythms of the citizens of Harmony, Alabama to immerse the audience into the world of the Jim Crow south. It’s a fable about the birth of rock n’ roll-a quintessentially American subject, but with a fidelity to time and temperament that is unusual in an American director.”

You can purchase tickets here. Its pretty cool our town is the site of a limited-release movie. Is anyone going to watch this? Care to share? In case you need reason(s) to go, here is what New Yorkers thought of the movie
